How to request deletion

You can delete your data from inside Ipsimo, in Settings. Account deletion is three taps from the Settings screen. That is the fastest route and it needs nothing from us.

If you cannot reach the app, write to [email protected] from the address on the account, saying whether you want everything deleted or only part of it.

What is deleted

Deleting removes your account record, your email address, every recipe you saved with its lines, chips, gaps and sources, your collections, your "made it" marks, and the anonymous usage events tied to your account. The confirmation in the app names the exact number of recipes before you confirm, and a second step asks you to type the word delete. Once it is done we cannot recover any of it, and we cannot restore it if you sign up again with the same address.

Deleting one recipe, or all of it

You can delete individual recipes without closing your account: removing one leaves everything else in place. Closing the account removes all of it.

Two things worth knowing before you do either. Deleting a saved recipe does not give a free save back, and the confirmation in the app says so before you tap. And if you only want to stop paying, cancelling a subscription is enough on its own: it deletes nothing, and every recipe you already have stays readable and cookable.

What may be retained

We may keep a limited amount of information after deletion where the law requires it, for example records of a transaction that tax law obliges us to hold. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, so purchase records also sit with them under their own retention rules. Deleting your Ipsimo account does not reach those and does not cancel your subscription, which is why the deletion screen in the app puts the store's own subscription management next to the confirm control.

Anything we keep is kept only for that purpose and for no longer than necessary.

How long it takes

In-app deletion signs you out immediately, and your recipes and your email address are erased permanently within 7 days. There is no grace period, no archive and no way to undo it. An emailed request is acknowledged within a few business days and completed within the timeframe the law where you live requires, and in any case within a reasonable time. We will tell you when it is done.
