How to ask

You can delete your data from inside Provero, in Settings, two taps from the account row and behind one confirmation that names exactly what goes. That is the fastest route, it needs nothing from us, and it finishes in a few seconds.

If you never created an account, there is nothing on our side tied to you and no request to make: deleting the app removes your session, your targets and your history from the device.

If you cannot reach the app, write to [email protected] from the address on the account, saying whether you want everything deleted or only part of it.

What is deleted

Your account record and your email address. Your daily calorie and protein targets. Your whole eating-out history, every meal in it. Every usual we derived from that history, the counts on your week strip, and the record of which chains you have opened.

Once it is done we cannot recover any of it, and we cannot restore it if you sign up again with the same address.

Two things do not go, and the confirmation in the app says both out loud rather than leaving you to find out:

Your subscription. It belongs to the Apple App Store or Google Play, which is where it is cancelled. Deleting your Provero account does not cancel it and does not refund it.

The anonymous usage events. They carry no identity and were never tied to your email address, so there is nothing in them to delete. They are unlinked from the deleted account and kept as counts. We would rather say that than promise a deletion we do not perform.

One more consequence, also named in the confirmation: the three free restaurants are not restored. The install returns to a fresh anonymous session with the same number of chains already spent, and the chains that were open close with the history.

Deleting one thing rather than everything

A meal you logged today can be taken back: tap the control again, or remove it from today's list, and it goes, with today's figures returning to what they were.

A meal logged on an earlier day is permanent. It is not editable and not removable, and it stays on the week strip, because a history you can rewrite is not a record of what happened. Closing your account is what removes it, along with everything else.

If you only want to stop paying and keep your history, cancelling a subscription is enough on its own and deletes nothing. If you sign out instead, your history and your targets leave the device and stay on the account, waiting for the next time you sign in.

What may be kept

We may keep a limited amount of information after deletion where the law requires it, for example records of a transaction that tax law obliges us to hold. Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, so purchase records also sit with them under their own retention rules, and deleting your Provero account does not reach those.

Anything we keep is kept only for that purpose and for no longer than necessary.

How long it takes

In-app deletion happens immediately, in a few seconds, and the app returns to the search field where it started. An emailed request is acknowledged within a few business days and completed within the timeframe the law where you live requires, and in any case within a reasonable time. We will tell you when it is done.
